In a break from annual tradition, Reading Buses has announced the continuation of its partnership with the Royal Berks Charity for the second consecutive year.
The decision deviates from the company’s usual practice of selecting a new charity each year and comes after a year of successful collaboration with the Royal Berks Charity, which is dedicated to enhancing NHS services through fundraising for additional equipment, redecoration, and renovation of departments.
Caroline Anscombe, HR Director of Reading Buses, says: “We are so thrilled that the vote has been taken in favour of extending our partnership with the Royal Berks Charity.
“It has been such an amazing partner in 2023 and our employees really have engaged with its cause which meant we were keen to extend the partnership for another year. We are looking forward to completing even bigger and better things with this popular charity in 2024.”
Traditionally, Reading Buses invites charities to apply for its ‘Charity of the Year’ program, culminating in a workforce vote to select the recipient. This approach has been set aside this year with employees overwhelmingly supporting the continuation of the relationship with the Royal Berks Charity.
The operator plans to announce the total funds raised for the charity in the first year of their partnership this January, once all donations have been tallied.
Comments Kate Martin, Philanthropy Manager for the Royal Berks Charity: “This renewed partnership is a shining example of how businesses can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. We are thrilled to have Reading Buses on board for another year.
“We are so grateful for its overwhelming support, its passion for our cause fuels our ability to improve NHS services for everyone in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.”
