Cumbrian operator set to take fleet of Turkish coaches to 28 with latest deal for full-size HD12 model
Reays Coaches of Carlisle completed a deal for 10 Temsa HD12s at EBE, with MD Chris Reay hailing the value delivered by the HD12 as the principal reason for a further extension of its fleet of vehicles from the Turkish manufacturer.
The Cumbrian operator is already the UK’s largest operator of Temsas. It has 18, a mix of HD12s and the smaller MD9 midi.
When delivered in 2019, the latest order will mean that 43 of the 50 full-size coaches with Reays will be Euro 6, and the move to 100% compliance will be complete by the end of next year.
“We first looked at Temsa in 2016 and it represented good value. Additionally, we had been buying DAF-powered coaches since 2007, and although we cover high mileages, we have never had any problems with the engines,” says Mr Reay.
“I gave the first of our Temsas to a driver who had worked for us for 20 years. He could find no fault with it.”
The 10 new HD12s will be used on tour work, from where they will displace an earlier identically-sized batch to private hire duties.
All of Reays’ Temsas are purchased outright from supplier Arriva Bus and Coach. The dealer reported strong interest from other buyers, including Maynes of Buckie, which placed an order for an MD9.
