The deadline for entries to the routeone Livery Competition 2024 is approaching, with submissions to close at 1700hrs on Friday 28 June.
The contest, held in partnership with Bus & Coach World and PPG, offers the chance for an operator to win a full vehicle respray free of charge. Bus & Coach World will provide the labour at its Blackburn facility, and PPG will provide the necessary paint.
Entries are submitted via a page on the routeone website. Three categories are in play, with a winner to be selected from each:
- Best bus livery
- Best coach livery
- Best mini/midi livery.
A mini/midi is defined as a vehicle of sub-10m in length and with fewer than 40 seats. Each operator may enter one of the above categories. Entries are further split into subcategories depending on fleet size: Large operator, medium operator, and small operator.
For best bus livery, large operators run over 150 buses; medium, 50-150 buses; and small, up to 49 buses. For both best coach livery and best mini/midi livery, large operators have over 40 vehicles; medium operators have 16-40 vehicles; and small operators up to 15 vehicles.
Once submissions close, an online vote by routeone subscribers will open at 0900hrs on 3 July and run until 1200hrs on 31 July. That will allow the creation of a nine-strong finalists’ list made up of one livery from each subcategory, which will be published on 6 August. Those nine finalists will then be put before an independent judge. They will decide each of best bus livery, best coach livery, and best mini/midi livery.
The three winners will be named on 13 August. Each will receive a voucher for a free repaint thanks to Bus & Coach World and PPG.
Entries thus far have been strong, with numerous operators across the three categories having made submissions. Coach entrants are particularly well represented, but competition is also keen among bus operators and those with mini/midi vehicles.
The routeone Livery Competition would not be possible without its two partners. Bus & Coach World is a provider of comprehensive repaint, repair, refurbishment, retrimming and bodybuilding services. Its client list spans the industry thanks to over 50 years’ experience.
PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials. Paint provided as part of the three prizes will be from PPG’s next-generation Delfleet One system. As well as giving accurate livery recreation and colour matching, it also delivers a 20% CO2 emission reduction for the end user thanks to extensive development and field research.
By entering, the participant confirms that they have the permission of the business owner or other authorised representative to do so. Full terms and conditions can be found here.
