With its own servers, in-house developers and training facilities, Road Tech offers a secure, personal and simple solution to operating efficiently and compliantly

A 19th century Grade II-listed building with acres of parkland isn’t the most obvious office choice for a software solutions firm, but for Road Tech, Shenley Hall in Hertfordshire is the perfect headquarters.

Shenley Hall is the ideal HQ for the firm that keeps everything in-house

Based there for the last 24 years, the large country house is ideal for the firm that not only owns its computer servers, but also keeps them all on-site.

“A high level of security is one of Road Tech’s top priorities,” says Director Adrian Barrett.

“Keeping the servers on our premises means we can ensure that they are completely secure against all data theft and cyberattacks and that all our customers’ company information is protected.”

Founded by former Army paratrooper and road haulier Derek Beevor in 1984, Road Tech offers a number of software solutions to help streamline operations, make them more efficient and, most importantly, keeps operators compliant.

What it offers

The four products Road Tech offers the coach and bus market are:

PreDrive: Recording vehicle damage and drivers’ daily defect reports is made simple with this system that can be customised to reflect an operator’s fleet. Operators are able to track, report and analyse any defects by vehicle and driver in real time. A DVSA-compliant walk-round app, Predrive provides a paperless option to streamline operations.

Tachomaster: Described as Road Tech’s “best seller”, operators can manage, track and review their compliance with this Earned Recognition-approved system. Data, such as tachograph driver cards and analogue charts, can be analysed instantly to prevent driver infringements.

Falcon Tracking: The system provides real-time vehicle tracking for an entire fleet, with the location of current positions of vehicles shown on Google Maps. It provides detailed insight into individual vehicles and drivers – including the driving behaviour of each driver, journey comparisons and fuel consumption – to improve fleet efficiencies. It can also be used to reward good driving performance.

Checkmaster: As an authorised DVLA driver licence checking system, it gives operators peace of mind that their drivers have valid driving licences. If an unlicensed driver is detected, the system will send an alert to the operator. After the employee's first licence check additional checks can be automatically scheduled at a frequency the operator can set.

Integration is key

What’s ideal about all of Road Tech’s systems is that they all integrate with each other.

Manage, track and review compliance with Tachomaster

Adrian says: “Each system is great but put them together and they’re even more powerful.

“No other company can offer the complete range of products including: Tachograph analysis, vehicle tracking, daily driver defect and damage reporting, and DVLA licence checking.”

The software also integrates with other technology that operators have invested in. For example, video and surveillance devices onboard a vehicle will link to Road Tech’s Falcon Tracking System.

Offering more

Road Tech’s offering is so much more than the products it supplies. Its dedicated team provides the whole package – with free training on how to use its Tachomaster system held at its Hertfordshire base and complete aftersales support offered as standard.

Recording vehicle damage and drivers’ daily defect reports is made simple

Says Sales Manager Maureen Ballance: “We are aware that customers’ IT skills and capabilities are different. Therefore, we do everything we can to support each customer to help them get the most out of our software.”

As well as in-house training and a dedicated in-house support team, customers can access YouTube tutorials explaining how each of the products work.

It is also so confident in its systems that customers pay as they go, rather than signing watertight contracts.

“We treat our customers with integrity,” says Maureen. “We’re completely transparent when it comes to costs and we put ourselves in customers’ shoes and treat them how we would want to be treated.”

As Road Tech has its own team of developers, it means its software is constantly being updated with new features being added more quickly, as it does not have to wait for third party involvement.

The team also listens to customers’ suggestions and requests with regard to developments and development to all its systems is ongoing.

Road Tech provides innovative, integrated and secure systems, which save its customers both time and money and keep their two most expensive assets – their vehicles and their drivers – compliant, while helping them to improve their safety record.    About Road Tech

Derek Beevor set up Road Tech Computer Systems after becoming frustrated with the lack of software available to help run his 20-vehicle transport company.

He solved the problem by combining his first-hand knowledge of the transport industry with the expert programming and design skills of a software developer. Consequently, they created a transport management system, which they called Roadrunner.

Today, Road Tech has developed four more systems for the transport industry and has built a reputation for supplying innovative and reliable software solutions.
