Southern Vectis is introducing a new “Sea Breezer” service along the Isle of Wight’s scenic coastline to capitalise on the upcoming Spring Bank Holiday and school half-term.
The Go Ahead-owned operator will launch the route between Ryde, Canoe Lake, Puckpool Park and Seaview tomorrow (24 May).
Using mainly open-top buses, the new service will particularly appeal to tourists as an influx of holidaymakers is expected this weekend and throughout the week.
Southern Vectis will put on eight round-trips per day with a maximum adult fare of £4.10. Southern Vectis’s Rover+Breezer 24-hour tickets are also valid for “hop-on, hop-off”.
Southern Vectis General Manager Richard Tyldsley says: “We’ve listened to what our customers have told us they would like, in terms of bus services during the summer across the Isle of Wight, and we think they will be impressed by the all new Sea Breezer.
“These buses also have full on-board commentary of the history of the area.”
Tourism is a significant angle for Southern Vectis, which has four routes accredited by Scenic Buses, including the Needles Breezer, Southern Vectis 6 and Island Coaster, which all operate on the Isle of Wight.
“We are blessed with truly wonderful coastline here, and are expecting an exceptional number of visitors to the island for the summer season,” adds Mr Tyldsley.
“The team here at Southern Vectis is looking forward to showing off the incredible views along this route, and we can’t wait to welcome our customers on-board.”
