First Bus subsidiary Specialist Passenger Solutions – which provides transport to the Hinkley Point C project in Somerset – has won gold in the 2025 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards.
It gained that accolade in the appropriate industry category, demonstrating what the business says is its dedication to keeping staff and passengers safe at work.
The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards mark their 69th year in 2025 and attract almost 2,000 entries from in excess of 50 countries and organisations that capture over seven million employees. That makes them the world’s largest health and safety awards programme.
Each entrant is assessed against rigorous criteria, making Specialist Passenger Solutions what it says is “a world leader in shaping safer, healthier workplaces.” The entry process can also be used as reflective practice to contribute to continuing professional development.
Head of Business Services Martin Webb adds: “We are truly passionate about engaging with all our colleagues to create safer working environments and continually improving how we deliver our services.
“This award is an amazing recognition for the fantastic work all of our colleagues deliver every day to ensure that our passengers go to work and return home safely to family and friends.”
RoSPA Growth Director Julia Small has congratulated Specialist Passenger Solutions on its accolade, noting that the business “should be proud of the hard work and commitment to keeping people safe” that has led to its delivery.
“RoSPA regards Specialist Passenger Solutions as a strong example of the importance of making accident prevention central to any successful organisation, not just for the benefit of employees, customers and clients, but also for society as a whole.”
