Stagecoach takes over Preston’s P&R

Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire is to take over operation of the Preston park-and-ride scheme.

From next week, passengers will be able to park their cars for free behind the Capitol Centre at Walton-Le-Dale and catch a Stagecoach bus into the city centre.

The scheme is designed to reduce congestion and carbon emissions in Preston city centre and offer customers a cheaper alternative to rising train fairs or expensive car parking fees.

Rob Jones, MD at Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire, says: “With limited availability for car parking in the city centre and rising train fares, taking the bus has never been easier or better value. We have made a significant investment to our buses over the last year to ensure they are fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.”

It will run the service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
