Stagecoach's top UK Bus apprentices have been recognised at the company's 13th annual Apprentice of the Year Awards.

Nine of the winning apprentices at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium

Ten bus engineering apprentices were awarded for their outstanding performance at the company’s largest ever awards ceremony at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

Matthew Sanderson from Stagecoach Yorkshire was awarded first place in the third year apprentice category for the second year running. Brandon Rutley from Stagecoach South West took second place and Shane Foster from Stagecoach East Midlands, was awarded third place.

In the year two awards, Stagecoach West Scotland apprentice Ross McGarvey received the first place award. Thomas Moorby from Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire was awarded second place while Tyrone Wells from Stagecoach London and David Hall from Stagecoach South West were awarded joint third place.

Winner of the year one category was Matt Antill from Stagecoach Manchester, with Jordan Davison from Stagecoach North East in second place and Jake Hodson from Stagecoach South West in third.

The winners received cash prizes and individual trophies and tools supplied by event sponsors.

This year, the top prize winner in each year group will be given a trip to the Scania factory and training facility in Sweden, while the third year winners will be invited by Juratek to attend the final rounds of the British Truck Racing Championships at Brands Hatch as part of the pit crew.

Clare Willis, Deputy Stagecoach UK Bus Training and Development Manager (Engineering) says: "The calibre and potential of all of our apprentices continues to grow and each year the judging becomes more difficult. Our winners this year have all worked to an exceptionally high standard and they thoroughly deserve their awards.

"The Stagecoach apprentice scheme is vital to the future success of our business and we are delighted to have such skilled and committed people in our team, playing a vital role in the delivery of high-quality services for millions of passengers who travel on our buses every day.”
