Transport UK London Bus brand is rolled out

Operator Abellio London will formally change its name to Transport UK London Bus from 2 March, the business has announced.

It follows a management buyout of the former Abellio UK business to form Transport UK that completed in February 2023. The change in identity of the London operation aligns it with the wider Transport UK company.

Branding on buses had begun to evolve in early January, and Transport UK London Bus says that a wider exercise in amending signage and other markers is also underway. That will apply to depots, letterheads and online channels, while consultation with employees on uniform changes ahead of rollout in 2025 is underway.

Day-to-day business is continuing as normal, with all six Transport UK London Bus depots enabled for battery-electric operation and 78% of its fleet either battery-electric or diesel-electric hybrid.

Speaking about the change, Transport UK London Bus Managing Director Jon Eardley says: “We are truly excited to enter 2024 under our new name, and proud to be part of the British owned and managed Transport UK Group.

“As we roll out the brand over the coming months, it is business as usual as we continue to expand out state-of-the-art fleet and grow the number of routes we operate.”

The operator’s buses already cover 8 million zero-emission miles per year and it claims to be the only Transport for London bus contractor to have all of its depots already enabled for battery-electric.

Former Abellio UK Managing Director Dominic Booth continues to hold the same position with Transport UK. He adds: “It is fantastic to see the newly branded Transport UK buses hitting London’s streets as we continue to invest in clean air for the communities we serve across the capital.

“We are committed to offering a better journey experience for all our passengers as we press ahead with electrifying our fleet as well.”
