Trentbarton bus driver Dennis ‘Bones’ Dutton and his wife Christine, who reside in Langley Mill, have scored an exclusive invitation to a coronation garden party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 3 May. The couple is delighted to be attending one of two parties celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III taking place on 6 May.
The royal invitation arrived after Christine nominated her husband for his longstanding service in the industry.
Dennis, known as ‘Bones’ to both colleagues and customers, has been driving buses for over 43 years, first for Barton Buses and then Trentbarton. He currently operates Trentbarton’s Rainbow One night owl services.
Tom Morgan, Managing Director of Trentbarton, is enthusiastic about the couple’s upcoming adventure. “We are so pleased and excited for Dennis and for Christine,” he says. “Dennis has been driving our buses since 1979 and that incredible service deserves this Royal recognition.
“We hope they both have a lovely day and get to tell the new King and his Queen Consort all about his career and the customers he helps every time he gets behind the wheel.”
Adds Dennis: “I’m really looking forward to my trip down to London to see Buckingham Palace – I feel like royalty. It’s nice for a bus driver to be recognised for their work after 40 years of service. I love my job and I just like to have a laugh with my regular customers.”
