The Volvo 9900 coach has won a Red Dot Award for Product Design 2019 thanks to what the manufacturer describes as “a distinct design language that has both a professional expression and operational functionality.”

It was one of 5,500 products from 55 countries to be entered into the scheme. The award will be presented on 8 July in Essen, Germany.

“When developing the new Volvo flagship, an inside-out user approach was at the core,” Says Volvo Buses Design Director Dan Frykholm.

“We have created a friendly and relaxing overall interior, with a safe and impressive exterior character. We are thrilled and grateful the result is receiving such attention.”

The first 9900s for UK and Irish customers are expected to enter service very soon.
