Williams Coaches has become the first privately owned coach operator in Wales to gain DVSA Earned Recognition status.

The Brecon-based business took part in an audit process to a prove consistent track record of compliance with road standards and regulations. It hopes participation in the scheme, which enables operators to share compliance data with DVSA, will convey to customers its high regard to safety.

Williams Coaches, which has has a fleet of 32 minibuses coaches with capacity from eight to seventy seats, is also a member of the Guild of British Coach Operators. It was established in the 1950s.

Rose Williams, Williams Coaches Operations Director, says: “This accomplishment proves the high standards we uphold as a company. It is also testament to the hard work of our driving, engineering and operating staff, day in day out.

“As a third-generation family-run company, we have a passion for the industry. Standards have always been high and we have always embraced industry advances and invested in the technology available to aid a compliant operation.

“As a result we have been able to monitor and work alongside the Earned Recognition criteria since the scheme was first launched. When we were completely satisfied that all the systems, processes and procedures were up to standard, we applied to join the scheme.

“Whilst it’s disappointing that price always appears to be the dictating factor with any hire or contract, we are hopeful that awareness of the Earned Recognition scheme will enable customers to understand the importance of compliance, regulations and standards.”
