Women in Bus and Coach has announced it will hold its inaugural awards as part of its annual summit in Manchester on 8 October.

The awards will recognise the contribution of women within the coach, bus and community transport sectors in four separate categories: Best Woman in Bus sponsored by Backhouse Jones Solicitors, Best Woman in Coach sponsored by IntSol Recruitment, Best Woman in Community Transport sponsored by Dawsongroup bus and coach and The Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill Best Ally Award sponsored by the Go-Ahead Group.

From among these will be chosen the recipient of the Woman of the Year title sponsored by MCV Bus and Coach.

“We are incredibly excited to host our first awards and to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women who drive our industry forward,” says Louise Cheeseman, Women in Bus and Coach Chair. “These awards not only recognise individual achievements but also highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion within the transport sector.”

Kerri Cheek, Women in Bus and Coach Director, adds: “Women in Bus and Coach is committed to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for women in our industry. This awards ceremony is a significant step towards acknowledging and celebrating the vital contributions that women make every day.”

The Women in Bus and Coach summit, which will take place 11 months from the launch of the initiative, will be sponsored by Transport UK London Bus, C9 Recruitment and Metroline.
