Zero Emission Zone: Companies demonstrate sustainable credentials

ADL, London Hire and Pelican Yutong demonstrated ride-on experiences of their carbon-friendly models in the Zero Emission Zone

Coach & Bus UK was proud to support Britain’s zero carbon goals by demonstrating three emission-free vehicles in its own Zero Emission Zone (ZEZ), an opportunity for companies to show off their carbon-neutral credentials and for operators to learn more about the benefits of zero emission.

Alexander Dennis (ADL) demonstrated its BYD ADL Enviro400EV electric double-deck bus, revealed earlier this year.

The Enviro400EV uses a combination of BYD’s iron phosphate battery and electric technology.

Assembled in Britain on chassis produced by BYD, batteries are positioned to optimize weight distribution. The vehicle has 382kW/h of energy stored at the rear and within the wheelbase.

From Pelican Bus and Coach and Yutong was the E10 electric single-deck bus, designed for UK operation according to Pelican and fitted with 324kW/h of energy storage. The well-proven technology has a claimed daily range of nearly 300km on a single DC charge.

Together with the E12 and the new TCe12 coach, the E10 uses the water cooled M280 CV4-H electric drive motor. 12 lithium iron phosphate battery backs alongside Yutong’s own battery management system come in modular design, and can be changed in future if battery technology improves.

Finally, from transport solutions provider London Hire, one of the industry’s largest rental suppliers of accessible vehicles, is an LDV EV80 electric minibus.

Jointly developed between London Hire and GM Coachwork, London Hire says it is the first lightweight electric minibus on the market. It features eight seats with the option for wheelchair space. The vehicle is moved by a 100kW electric motor, and comes with a claimed range of 100 urban miles. London Hire advertise it as ideal inner-city transport that can be operated all day in Low Emission Zones and the Ultra Low Emission Zone.
