FlixBus has marked the planned roll-out of a consignment of 20 new branded Yutong GT12 coaches due to be delivered to partner operators Trentbarton and First Bus for use on the scheduled coach network.
FlixBus UK Senior Managing Director Andreas Schorling visited the Castleford base of UK supplier Pelican Bus and Coach to celebrate the brand’s fleet passing the 200 mark.
The latest batch of coaches includes several Yutong GT12 coaches with USB charging points and power sockets.
The vehicles will be introduced to the network over the next few weeks to serve cities including London, Leicester, Sheffield, Bristol, and Leeds.
Mr Schorling says: “We’ve experienced such rapid growth that it’s fantastic to see it visually represented by this fleet of FlixBus-branded vehicles before they hit the road.
“Our passengers love travelling on brand-new coaches tailored to the FlixBus experience, and ensuring a high-quality onboard journey is a vital part of our growth strategy as we continue towards market leadership in the UK.”
Last month, Pelican Bus and Coach announced that a GT12 destined for First Bus for use on the FlixBus network was the 2,000th Yutong registered for the UK by the dealership.
Following partnerships confirmed at the end of last year with First Bus and Trentbarton, FlixBus has continued to expand its network and now lists more than 80 destinations in the UK.
Richard Crump, Managing Director of Pelican Engineering Group, says: “It’s fantastic to celebrate the arrival of these vehicles.
“The rapid growth that FlixBus has achieved in the UK is a testament to the skill and dedication of their management team and this delivery shows the strength of our partnership and the continued confidence of FlixBus in Yutong vehicles.
“We’re very proud to play our part in supporting FlixBus’s growing UK network by delivering high-quality coaches that passengers and operators can trust.”
