Beverley firm provides free travel to benefit concert, or donates fares received to charity

Acklams sent three coaches to Sunday’s We Love Manchester concert

Acklams Coaches has done its bit for victims of the terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on 22 May by offering free travel to the benefit concert held on 4 June to all those passengers who went with it to the Manchester Arena two weeks ago.

Beverley-based Acklams – which specialises in concert travel – also donated to charity all fares received from customers who travelled to the One Love Manchester event but were not present at the Ariana Grande concert, raising £1,200 for the emergency fund.

“We sent two coaches with 75 passengers to Manchester on 22 May and thankfully they all returned safely with no injuries,” says Natalie Acklam.

Mrs Acklam adds that all but one of those customers took up Acklams’ offer of free travel to Sunday’s event at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Emirates Old Trafford ground.

“Additionally, we took a further 60 passengers and all of the money we received from them has been donated to the We Love Manchester emergency fund.”

Mrs Acklam adds that with news of Sunday’s concert only arriving with the operator two days earlier, it spent a lot of time contacting travellers to the terror-hit event and securing tickets for them.

“It took a lot of organisation and many emails were sent back and forth because we had to confirm the names of all the people who were at the first concert with the organisers. That took a lot of time.”
