Hayden Carter, Operations Manager of Clacton-on-Sea-based Tendring Travel, is offering operators and individuals a chance to show their support for the coach industry with stickers that are suitable for a variety of uses including affixing to cars, coaches and other vehicles.
They are being sold at cost price and include the hashtag #backbritainscoaches. Designs have been created by friends and family and they are intended to help ongoing work to highlight the crisis that is affecting the coach industry.
“We are producing these stickers ourselves and selling them at cost price; we are making no profit from them,” says Mr Carter (pictured, right). “We need as many as possible to be sent out to raise awareness.” Thus far, 300 have been sold, which has entailed a team effort to produce them.
A variety of designs are available. Prices start from £5 including postage and packing for a 21in x 3in sticker.
The crisis in the coach industry has hit Tendring Travel hard, he continues.
None of its vehicles have been used since 23 March and the operator has been unable to secure any support through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme.
“We have found it so hard to get any grants, and we were not able to get a loan. We are struggling, just like everyone else in our industry.” Mr Carter has also been working to raise awareness of the crisis via the mainstream media, with a planned appearance on BBC Radio London on Tuesday 28 July.
