Coach operator Westbus is marking 40 years in the London market with new vehicles and celebrations of the milestone for the ComfortDelGro subsidiary.
Westbus was established in 1986 as the UK arm of a family-run Australian coach and bus business prior to purchase by ComfortDelGro in 2005. Since then, it has strengthened its position, something that has been furthered by delivery in April of a pair of Volvo B8Ls with MCV EvoSeti bodywork. They each seat 98.
Those vehicles are the highest capacity models ever to join the company. They represent a furthering of strong investment in its 35-strong fleet and follow a return to Volvo products for single-deck coaches during 2025.
Over the past 18 months, Westbus has ordered 17 new vehicles as part of a £4.5 million spend on renewal. More deliveries are planned for the next year “as we build on this momentum and support continued growth,” the operator says.
The operator provides coach services in the UK and into continental Europe, supporting clients including tour operators, travel agencies, corporate customers, schools, and universities.

Speaking about this year’s anniversary, General Manager Tim Miles says: “Reaching 40 years in London is a significant milestone for Westbus. It reflects the commitment of our team and the trust that our customers place in us, including some who have been with us since day one.
“We have consistently invested in high-quality vehicles and service standards, and the arrival of our largest coaches to date is another statement of confidence in the future. We look forward to celebrating this anniversary throughout the year.”
ComfortDelGro UK and Ireland Bus and Coach Chief Executive Officer Edward Thomas has congratulated the company on its success.
“Westbus plays an important role in our UK operations, and has delivered four decades of quality coach travel for a wide range of customers,” he says. “We are proud to support the business as it continues to invest, grow, and build on its strong reputation.”
