Ann and Paul Cousins of Coach Displays deserve to be congratulated on successfully staging the return of the UK Coach Rally after its two-year hiatus.
It was a pleasure to be in Blackpool to witness the shared joy evident among the participants in being able to put behind them the troubles forced on the industry by the pandemic.
Without exception, the vehicles on display were a credit to the individual operators and to the industry as a whole. They sparkled in the sunshine, reflecting a professional industry at its best.
The whole event was something of a triumph. Not only did Coach Displays manage to successfully put the Rally back on the coach industry calendar, but it provided the coach sector with a much-needed fillip after two dreadfully testing years. It was an act of faith by the organisers and, despite evident difficulties and challenges, the industry responded magnificently.
It is hoped that the bus sector will respond likewise when the Bus Driver of the Year National Final is held, also in Blackpool, in October.
