Bus driver Adam Gath has been named Stagecoach North’s Employee of the Month after looking out for a vulnerable female passenger while at work, on his break and even after finishing his shift.

Adam was driving to Chesterfield when the elderly lady boarded and tried to pay with her keys. Adam issued her a ticket covering the cost himself.
After she alighted, Adam remained concerned and while on his break he returned in his car to check she was OK and found her talking to a lady.
After advising the police, Adam went on the second half of his duty but on a subsequent trip in the afternoon, the lady boarded once again. He ensured she remained on the bus as far as the depot.
Stagecoach Supervisor Eddie Ratcliffe took the lady to Chesterfield Police Station where her son had been in contact and come to collect her.
Matt Davies, Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director says: “There is no doubt that Adam went far over and above the call of duty – his concern for this passenger meant he returned to check on her on his break and even spent time after he’d finished his shift with her until he could be sure she was safely with the police.”
