Stagecoach West has promoted George Sloan (pictured) to the position of Operations Director. He steps up having previously managed the business’s undertakings in Oxford and is a product of the Stagecoach graduate scheme, which he joined in 2018.
As Operations Director Mr Sloan will be responsible for around 450 vehicles and more than 750 staff members. He succeeds Chris Hanson, who was promoted to Managing Director of Stagecoach West earlier in 2024.
Since joining the group as a graduate, Mr Sloan held managerial responsibilities in Carlisle, Fenstanton, Northampton and Peterborough before moving to Oxford in 2022. In that latter role he was responsible for 85 vehicles and 250 staff.
Speaking about his elevation, Mr Sloan says: “I am delighted to be appointed as Operations Director for Stagecoach West.
“It is a privilege to be leading an excellent team of people who are passionate about bus services in our region. I am thoroughly looking forward to working with our partners and key stakeholders to deliver further improvements to bus services in the communities we serve.”
Adds Mr Hanson: “George brings a wealth of experience and grounding in Stagecoach procedures alongside a passionate enthusiasm for developing the business and prioritising our staff and customers.
“I look forward to seeing the amazing things that George will deliver in this strategic role.”
