For Introduce a Girl to Engineering day (20 February), two Go North East (GNE) apprentices are sharing their experiences to encourage more women to consider a career in engineering.

Melissa Millington (pictured) and Maisie Hatch are in a four-year apprenticeship at GNE, which is partnered with Gateshead College.

Melissa joined GNE in 2018 after landing one of six apprenticeships which had over 500 applicants. Maisie joined GNE in 2019 and her intake also had lots of competition for getting a place on the course too.

GNE will soon have eight engineering apprenticeships available.
