Chief Executive, Go-Ahead Group, David Brown has been recognised with an award – European CEO’s Best CEO for Sustainable Transport.
Judges on the European CEO panel praised Go-Ahead’s efforts to provide innovative new solutions in transport.
The judges said: “David Brown has been exemplary in leading one of the UK’s biggest transport operators towards a cleaner, greener future.
“A dedication to improving air quality and tackling climate change is visible across Go-Ahead, and that can only come from having a CEO who fundamentally believes in the cause.”
Last year Go-Ahead launched a new air filtering bus which actively cleans the air as it travels through the streets of Southampton.
This has contributed to a 22% reduction in the firm’s carbon emissions per vehicle mile over the last two years, and the business is on track for 25% reduction by 2021.
David says: “As a company we recognise the impacts of climate change and the need for us to do more to be part of the solution. Travelling by bus helps address congestion and air quality, and this award recognises the efforts we are putting in to make our business even more sustainable.”
