Ian Fraser has been named Regional Managing Director of London and the South East by The Coach Travel Group.
He joins from National Express Transport Solutions and brings over 30 years’ experience in the coach industry, including leading the growth of Kent operator The Kings Ferry.
The Coach Travel Group notes that Mr Fraser is well-versed in managing the challenges that face the transport sector, including progress towards low-carbon travel, passenger safety, and the adoption of new technology.
Speaking about the recruitment of Mr Fraser, The Coach Travel Group CEO Tom Stables says: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the group, who arrives with extensive experience from his time at National Express and The Kings Ferry.
“His knowledge of the coach transport sector will play a considerable role in the coming months and years as we continue to build our position as an industry leader. I am looking forward to working with him as we build our presence in London and South East.”
Those regional efforts were bolstered in late 2024 when Horseman Coaches and Stewarts Coaches, both of Reading, joined the group, which has made no secret of its desire to grow further from the businesses that formed it in mid-2024.
Speaking about his move, Mr Fraser says: “I am delighted to join The Coach Travel Group. Its formation is one of the most significant developments the UK coach travel industry has seen in many years.
“I will be working hard with my colleagues across the region to continue the good work being done to offer passengers leading levels of safety, comfort, convenient and customer service.
“We are unique in being a national group created by local coach travel operators, bringing together years of expertise and trusted reputations in the communities they serve.”
Mr Fraser adds that while the industry faces challenges, he is confident that The Coach Travel Group is “best placed to continue to offer a great service to our partners and passengers.” It now has over 450 vehicles and around 700 employees.
