Jamie Ross has been named Director of Transport by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA).

The newly created role takes responsibility for leading the commissioning and delivery of plans for an integrated transport network in the region, which includes the franchising of bus services. It also captures progressing further devolution of the Liverpool City Region rail network and other transport infrastructure.

Mr Ross was previously Interim Director of Rail at LCRCA. He has over 20 years’ experience in senior transport leadership roles and began his career in the ferry industry. He has also worked for the Go-Ahead Group and train operating companies GNER and Northern Rail, and spent four years as a senior civil servant in the Scottish Government.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Ross says: “Having worked in transport delivery and strategy for more than 20 years, I am keenly aware of the importance of public transport to communities as well as the crucial role it plays in economic growth.

“There has never been a better time to take up a role like this, given the exciting vision for the Liverpool City Region that we are now in the process of implementing, the investment that we are securing to improve networks, the potential for further devolution, and the constructive partnerships that we already have with both public and private sector partners.”

LCRCA Executive Director for Place Richard McGuckin adds: “We are delighted to have Jamie on board. He is an exceptional transport professional whose expertise and experience will be invaluable in delivering the modern, effective transport system our city region residents and businesses need and deserve.

“He will be working closely with the Place management team, colleagues across the Combined Authority, and wider partners and stakeholders on a number of crucial priorities to deliver the Mayor’s vision of an integrated transport network that is safe, affordable and accessible to use and delivers our economic, environmental and social inclusion goals.”
