16 members of the McCarron Coates team will enter the Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2024 challenge over the weekend of 27 and 28 July.
They will be led by Director Paul Coates and take on the 15km, 20-obstacle course in support of the Downs Syndrome Association. It is charity that strives to create conditions through which all those with Downs Syndrome can live full and rewarding lives and is close to the hearts of some team members and company associates.
Training by the McCarron Coates team is underway. The event will take place at Broughton Hall in Skipton and is the latest challenge to be undertaken by the specialist fleet insurance broker’s staff.
In 2023, they took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside in less than 12 hours. That raised over £2,800 for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. It helps the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit to remain a world-class centre of excellence for babies, children and adults with congenital heart disease.
Mr Coates says that the Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2024 quest has already generated donations from clients in the coach and bus industry.
“The more we can raise, the more it will spur us all on to complete the course and get the feel-good factor of having done what is in our power to do, to help others who need extra assistance,” adds Mr Coates.
“We feel very privileged to be able to do the jobs we do and have the lifestyle that comes from having both that opportunity and good health. This inspires us to show gratitude for things that we could otherwise take for granted and to do all we can to give something back.
“Our goal is always to try to assist good causes that can help others in our community who are not as fortunate, be that because of a health issue or other situation.”
