Mellor and Treka Bus parent WN VTech – formerly Woodall Nicholson – has made two senior appointments at its bus division, which captures the two manufacturers. It comes after former bus chief Mark Clissett left the business at the end of January.
Mr Clissett’s son Morgan (pictured, left) has been promoted to the position of Bus Division Managing Director. He was previously Mellor and Treka General Manager. Meanwhile, former Mistral man Michael Gillen (pictured, right) has joined as Bus Division Head of Sales.
Mr Gillen will provide “strategically important leadership of both the Mellor and Treka sales teams,” WN VTech says. He has over 30 years’ experience in the coach and bus industry and was previously Regional Sales Manager for Scotland, Cumbria and Northumberland with Mistral. He also brings knowledge of vehicle brokerage and operations.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Gillen says: “It is a privilege to be leading the sales teams. The company is undoubtedly on an upward trajectory, with operators across the UK and Europe looking to add size-appropriate, all-electric buses to their fleets.
“Nobody offers the same level of vehicle diversity as we do, and it is rewarding that we can meet the needs of such a broad range of customers.”
Morgan Clissett has acknowledged his father’s two-year contribution to the WN VTech business, describing that work as “pivotal” in the introduction of the Sigma range of battery-electric single-deck buses.
“The launch of Sigma was a landmark moment for the Mellor brand and reinforced our commitment to providing operators with a choice of zero-emission, size- and cost-appropriate buses. Looking ahead, 2023 is set to be just as exciting, with significant Sigma deliveries and an update to our wider model line-up later in the year.”
Mellor adds that is continues to see “strong demand” for the Sigma range, which extends from 7-12m. An order was recently taken for 42 Sigma 7 examples for an operator in Sweden.
