Rupert Cox has been confirmed as permanent Managing Director of Go East Anglia by the Go-Ahead Group. It follows a period in that position on an interim basis for the former Stagecoach Regional Director.
Mr Cox will take up the job on a permanent basis from 1 September. He has been with Go-Ahead since March, working on business development until assuming interim control of Go East Anglia in June when previous postholder Gavin Smith moved to lead the Fastrack bus rapid transit work in Kent ahead of the group mobilising a contract there later in 2024.
Having commenced his career via the Stagecoach graduate trainee programme, Mr Cox’s most recent role with Stagecoach was Regional Director for the South and Midlands. Now as head of Go-Ahead’s operations in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, he has aired an aspiration to grow its presence there via work in partnership with transport authorities.
Speaking about the development with Mr Cox, Go-Ahead Group Managing Director of UK Regional Bus Martin Dean adds that the business is “delighted to appoint Rupert permanently as the Managing Director of Go East Anglia.
“He is an experienced and knowledgeable industry leader with a track record of delivering for customers, and his extensive career in bus will undoubtedly benefit our business.”
