Stagecoach East is celebrating driver David Diplock (pictured) this month for 40 years of service behind the wheel in Cambridgeshire.

David is one of the operator’s longest-serving employees. He began his career with Cambus in 1985 (predecessor to Stagecoach East) where he worked in fuelling and arranging vehicles at the operator’s Hills Road depot in Cambridge. He is now a familiar face to passengers across the county and currently works the 8A service.

Colleagues at Stagecoach East’s Cambridge depot paid tribute to David’s longstanding dedication with a trophy and commemorative presentation.

Martin Marsh, Operations Manager, says: “It was great fun to show Dave some appreciation for a truly remarkable achievement. He is a popularĀ figure around the depot and his regular passengers love him. Being a driver for so long and maintaining the standards that he keeps every day is a real mark of the man; he has been a big part of the team for a long time.”

Adds Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach South East: “When we are looking for drivers at [Stagecoach] East, we look for people who have a true passion for service, who live out our values of being part of their local community, and Dave lives these every single day. I am so proud to be able to recognise what is a wonderful career of service.

“When people join the bus industry, we often find that they learn to love the job and become true ā€˜bus people’. And Dave is the perfect example of that.”
