Staff from Stagecoach East Midlands’ Hull depot took part in a charity bike ride this month, cycling 45 miles to raise money for the local Forget-Me-Not Fund.
The sponsored bike ride followed the route of the popular Humber Fast Cat bus from Hull to Scunthorpe, taking them past the railway station and over the Humber Bridge.
They raised £2,200 for the charity, which provides free ‘memory boxes’ at Hull Women and Children’s Hospital for women who suffer early pregnancy loss.
Stagecoach Traffic Controller Alan Beauchamp came up with the idea to raise money for the charity, which is close to his heart.
He says: “It’s been brilliant to see the amount of support from everyone, and I’m delighted to be able to present this cheque to the Forget-Me-Not Fund. My wife works at the unit, and sees the positive impact it has on those who receive these lovely memory boxes.”
“The ride was a challenge and there was a lot of training, but it’s been such a success and I’m really proud of all the staff who took part. We have even said that we would like to do another challenge next year – so watch this space!”
