William Barker has been appointed Engineering Director of Stagecoach South. He joins from Go-Ahead, having entered that business’s graduate scheme in 2012, and was most recently Engineering Standards Manager with his previous employer.
He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and has what Stagecoach South says is “a strong focus on promoting coordination and best practices across engineering teams.” He is already working closely with new colleagues in the business to maintain and enhance service delivery.
Mr Barker’s CV includes overseeing depot digitalisation with Go-Ahead, an initiative that streamlined operations and improved efficiency.
Speaking about his move, Mr Barker says: “Joining Stagecoach has been a great experience. In my first eight weeks, I have seen how strong and committed the team is.
“I am excited about the opportunities ahead, especially with the shift towards electric fleets. I am proud to be part of the process that continues to deliver the highest standards for our customers and stakeholders.”
Outside work, Mr Barker is a classic car enthusiast and has owned a Mini since he was a teenager. He has two young children, aged four and one.
