Go-Ahead London, the capital’s largest bus operator with 2,300 vehicles, has signed a five-year contract with Tranzaura to ensure that pre-service checks are undertaken electronically via an app.
The app replaces paper-based records, which Tranzaura says are resource-intensive, costly and subject to human error. It enables Go-Ahead London to integrate unplanned maintenance into an electronic system and to positively influence driver behaviour.
Roll-out of the app across all 16 garages will be undertaken during 2019. It follows a three-month trial undertaken with 51 BYD ADL electric buses at Waterloo garage in 2018.
Says Engineering Director Richard Harrington: “We set a clear vision for the critically-important pre-service vehicle check process and we spent considerable time researching what was available from a number of potential suppliers.
“We wanted to create a bespoke and future-proof system that takes account of changing legislation and/or company rules.”
Adds Tranzaura CEO Shane Mann: “Instead of a paper trail, Go-Ahead London now has an app that takes a driver through an easily-understood safety check to predetermined standards by walking around the vehicle and recording items on a smartphone.”
