Tyre company Continental has updated its annually published overview of European regulations for winter equipment on coaches, buses and trucks.

Getting to grips with winter weather

This includes guidance on winter tyres and whether snow chains are required. This can be viewed at: www.continental-tyres.co.uk/truck/knowhow/european-winter-regulations

If the UK does encounter a severe winter, Continental advises fleet operators to certainly consider fitting winter tyres to all axles of vehicles operating in more difficult road conditions. Conventional tyres should be used once the severe weather is over.
