DJ Coaches is a 100% Michelin tyre operator

DJ Coaches has adopted a 100% Michelin tyre policy. In-house data showed that Michelin tyres typically last up to 140,000km longer than a premium competitor brand fitted as original equipment to newer vehicles.

It will now specify X MultiWay 3D XZE on steer axles and X Coach XD on drive axles. All casings follow Michelin’s multi-life policy, enabling the customer to fit a mixture of new and Remix tyres. Michelin retreads deliver virtually the same performance as a new tyre but at around 40% of the cost.

Each tyre gives fuel economy and mileage performance, says Michelin. They have 3PMSF markings, confirming their suitability for all weather conditions.

Says Engineering Manager Lee Mant: “All our vehicles are delivered with premium tyres as standard. But on some of our newest arrivals, we’ve seen a huge performance difference between top tier brands.

“That has meant replacing original equipment tyres after only 110,000km, whereas we’ve routinely seen Michelin tyres on our older coaches achieving 250,000km before retreading.”

A Michelin Tyre Manager suggested bespoke cold tyre inflation pressures for individual DJ Coaches vehicles, further minimising wear and boosting mileage potential.
