DVSA MoT testing app streamlines process

A new DVSA MoT testing app being issued to staff will make annual tests for coaches and buses will more efficient.

The DVSA MoT testing app gives Vehicle Standards Assessors access to the vehicle’s complete technical record, allowing them to record test results in real time. Eventually, that will give operators access to more accurate and comprehensive test information and easier access to test certificates.

The app guides testers through the process of visiting an authorised testing facility and testing vehicles. In the long term, it will completely replace DVSA’s old processes.

As the project progresses, operators will get easy access to all of the information they need about vehicles. That will include any that they are looking to buy or lease.

Says Danny Charles, Digital Services Manager: “The current systems for conducting tests have lots of room for improvement. Giving our staff comprehensive, accurate information about the vehicle they are testing is an important first step.

“This app will give staff that information and allow them to record the results in real time without having to use lots of different systems. It will result in more accurate information being made available.”
