Newport Transport has deployed the Omnibus driver app OmniENGAGE in a move that the supplier says “has transformed” driver experience at the South Wales municipal operator.
The app empowers driving staff with real-time work management, and it gives employers control over alerts distribution. Drivers can access upcoming schedules, rota details and hours worked, as well as request leave or shift swaps and express availability for additional duties. The latter gives equitable access to overtime opportunities, says Omnibus.
OmniENGAGE has been integrated with the Omnibus Depot Allocation System (OmniDAS) by Newport Transport. That streamlines business operations by automating driver requests and enquiries, reducing administrative burdens.
Speaking about the latest development, Newport Transport Operations Director Morgan Stevens says: “OmniENGAGE represents a pivotal step forward for Newport Transport, not only in bolstering driver morale but also in streamlining our operations.
“By providing drivers with the tools they need for real-time work management and seamless communication, we have fostered a more engaged and motivated workforce. This heightened level of engagement translates into smoother operations, improved service delivery, and ultimately an enhanced experience for our passengers.
“OmniENGAGE is more than just a solution for Newport Transport – it is a catalyst for positive change across our entire organisation.”
Adds Omnibus and EPM Software Director Nick Brookes: “Communication is vitally important to help improve driver morale and retention.
“With OmniENGAGE, Newport Transport will be able to improve communication with drivers by removing the shortcomings of traditional methods, leading to a smoother operation and ultimately improving the passenger experience.”
