Omnibus has released a range of updates to assist operators with Bus Open Data management. The services covered include OmniFLAG and TransXChange.

OmniFLAG

Operators will now be able to manage data in Britain’s national dataset of public transport access points, NaPTAN, using OmniFLAG.

OmniFLAG is the company’s ‘comprehensive’ NaPTAN editor and asset management solution. It records and monitors bus stops and associated equipment and can be installed on Windows tablets and laptops to allow remote data collection and editing, even at the stop itself.

The latest version of the software includes improved map display and zoom, and better image compression. Omnibus says it has improved bus stop asset reporting, and added an aerial view button to the base map. Changes can be validated during editing. Other updates are in consultation with operators and local authorities.

TransXChange

Improvements to Electronic Bus Service Registrations (EBSR) and TransXChange modules are also being introduced.

TransXChange allows operators to exchange operational data with systems such as journey planners (including those operated by Traveline) and real-time systems and electronic ticket machine systems. Such systems are now mandated under the Bus Open Data project.

TransXChange performs validation checks on the source data to pinpoint data issue prior to producing a file, which Omnibus says adds extra security during frequent service changes as lockdown restrictions are eased.

Managing Director of Omnibus, Peter Crichton, says: “We are doing everything that we can to support our industry during this incredibly challenging time. The entire development team is focused on making continuous enhancements to our software and getting them out to our customers as quickly as possible.”
