Stagecoach West recently chose wireless mobile column lifts from Stertil Koni to support its operations at depots in Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye.
Both sites took delivery of a set of four ST1075FWA lifts. Each of the four columns provides a lifting capacity of 7,500kg, and also incorporates Stertil Koni’s ebright Smart Control System, which allows them to be operated individually or in any other combination.
Positioning of columns is flexible, enabling them to be used in any combination around a vehicle. They also have wireless mesh network connectivity and full-colour touch-screen consoles.
For added safety, the control system shows how many in the set are being used, plus the battery state of each column.
Safety is further enhanced by an independent mechanical locking system incorporated into each column. It allows engineers to securely lock the lifts to prevent inadvertent lowering.
Power is provided by long-life, deep cycle batteries that can provide at least a week’s use before a recharge is necessary. Charging is via a 230v supply. Battery life is prolonged because, unlike a ‘screw lift’, power is used only to raise the vehicle.
