Total Lubricants has announced that it is developing an additive that will dissolve in its AdBlue products. Called Diaxol, it will clean SCR ‘de-nox’ systems, improving performance in frequent stop and cold-climate applications.

Diaxol will prolong the life of exhausts and dramatically reduce exhaust clogging as a result of crystallisation deposits. Tests have shown that vehicles using Diaxol can cover 50,000km without experiencing any exhaust clogging issues.

As a result, says Total, Diaxol’s preventative effect delivers a reduced requirement for maintenance of vehicles’ SCR systems.

Diaxol is a revolutionary technology for bus fleets, and coaches that spend a lot of time in urban traffic. Total’s estimations show that these vehicles can experience exhaust clogging issues up to 40% of the time, affecting fuel efficiency and exhaust performance.

When using Diaxol, it adds that such vehicles can cover tens of thousands of kilometres without any such issues.

Diaxol will soon be made available by Total in the UK as part of its AdBlue range, which is offered in bulk, IBC, barrel and small pack. In addition, a variety of dispensing options are offered.
