Nearly 200 contactless payment-enabled ticket machines have been delivered to Scottish Citylink by TransMach after the supplier secured its largest single customer order to date for fixed and mobile units.

It is made up of a combination of TM500 fixed units and TM920 Pro mobile models. They are used on coaches that deliver a network of scheduled services across Scotland and in addition to contactless payments accept ITSO smartcards and QR codes generated by travel apps and booking systems.

On the latter point, TransMach says that the units are integrated with the Scottish Citylink booking system, allowing coach drivers to access the passenger manifest directly through the ticket machine interfaces and eliminating paper manifests.

The system also includes real-time passenger information accessible via a separate tracking link that means passengers can see estimated arrival times.

In addition, the supplier’s cloud-based back-office system enables operators to produce analytical reports for various metrics over an unlimited timeframe, including revenue, schedule adherence, passenger loadings, and service performance.

Speaking about the agreement with the scheduled service provider, TransMach Director Minesh Vandra comments: “We are very proud to be selected by Scottish Citylink for such an important upgrade to its onboard ticketing system.

“As well as supplying the machines, TransMach is focused on helping the business to make efficiencies in cost and time through our cloud-based asset management service, which will add value to Scottish Citylink’s operation moving forward.”

Says Scottish Citylink and Megabus Managing Director Simone Walsh: “TransMach has been an invaluable partner in enhancing our ticketing operations. Its flexibility in adapting to our unique requirements and proactive approach to resolving challenges has been exemplary.

“The team’s dedication to providing prompt and effective solutions has ensured a seamless experience for both our staff and passengers. We are delighted to work with such a reliable and forward-thinking company.”
