Lothian Buses, and long-standing Wrightbus/Volvo customer, has placed an order for 42 Volvo buses with Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) bodywork. ADL has not previously built its Euro 6 Enviro range on Volvo chassis.

Details of the vehicles have yet to be revealed.

However, work for Lothian continues at Wrightbus which is refurbishing 50 former London Euro 5 ‘deckers [routeone/news/18 April] alt=”” class=”figimg” src=”https://www.route-one.net/wp-content/uploads/Lothian.jpg” style=”float:right” />

Lothian MD Richard Hall says: “These ADL/Volvo vehicles will enhance our fleet in line with our investment and BUS2020 strategy. It will ensure that we continue to play our part to improve air quality.”

ADL CEO Colin Robertson says: “We are delighted to support Lothian in its BUS2020 strategy and as a Scotland-based company, we are particularly pleased that our buses will serve the Scottish capital.

“Working with Volvo as chassis manufacturer, we will combine our expertise in tailoring buses to our customer’s requirements underpinned by best-in-class aftermarket support to ensure Lothian’s new fleet delivers a first class customer experience.

We look forward to sharing more details of this exciting new product in due course.”

Nick Page, Managing Director, Volvo Bus UK & Ireland added: “We are very excited to be working with our long term partner Lothian, and Alexander Dennis on this project to bring a new concept in travel to The City of Edinburgh.

“This is another important milestone in Lothian’s BUS2020 strategy improving air quality and enhancing the customers’ experience.”
