180 buses to gain Baumot BNOx upgrade kits that will ensure fleet-wide Euro 6 compliance for NCT

The deal for Baumot’s BNOx system will see 180 of NCT’s buses upgraded

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is to fit 180 existing buses with Baumot’s BNOx ammonia generator exhaust aftertreatment units as part of a plan that will see it achieve universal Euro 6 compliance by 2020.

It makes NCT the first bus operator to commit to an all-Euro 6-compliant fleet and the BNOx systems will upgrade Euro 5 vehicles. Baumot’s unit uses a heater to convert AdBlue to ammonia, guaranteeing emission reduction performance.

Says NCT Engineering Director Gary Mason: “After careful consideration of products in the market, we selected the Baumot BNOx system because of its innovative approach to aftertreatment, providing a best-in-class solution to upgrade our Euro 5 buses.”

Adds Bert Pierlings, Baumot UK MD: “We are proud to have won this order. It is significant for us in the UK market.

“NCT’s commitment to environmental issues and its green credentials highlight the merits of selecting our technology to help it meet forthcoming government standards.”

The BNOx system can upgrade buses from as far back as Euro 3 to meet Euro 6 standards. Baumot says that it delivers results that exceed the baseline at Euro 6 and that it is a cost-effective manner in which to upgrade.
