Go North East says it is introducing a major upgrade to its express X9 and X10 routes between Middlesbrough and Newcastle via the A19. From 5 September, luxury coaches will service the route to improve reliability.
The vehicles will be equipped with extra wide double-doors with a wheelchair accessible front entrance and priority seating spaces, onboard wi-fi, USB charging, power sockets and air conditioning.
Stopping arrangements will be adjusted in Newcastle city centre to accommodate the coaches and improve access to leisure facilities.
Says Go North East Managing Director Martijn Gilbert: “We’re delighted to be bringing this upgrade to our express route between Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
“These coaches will provide our customers with an extra comfort while they run fast and direct via the A19 and will play an important part in delivering congestion busting low carbon travel to help support the economic recovery of the region.”
