Obituary: Mike Ruffle

Long-time coach driver and owner Mike Ruffle has died aged 70.

Originally from Kelvedon, Essex, Mr he worked in the ambulance service for many years and continued this work in Lincolnshire where he rose to Chief Executive and launched the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance – the Ambucopter.

In 2000 he took early retirement and began a new career living out a childhood dream to drive coaches. Working for many local firms, he found his feet at Hunt’s Coaches of Alford, a firm he loved. Then he launched his own firm, MR 5 Star Coach Travel, which became a successful part of the Lincoln coach market.

The funeral of Mike Ruffle will take place at St John’s Church, Washingborough, LN4 1AZ on Thursday 5 December at 1100hrs. Donations in lieu of flowers would be welcome and will be given to his chosen charities. Lincoln Co-operative Funeral Service (Proctors Road) 01522 246380.
