James Armstrong took up the position of Scania (Great Britain) Managing Director on 1 July. He succeeds Martin Hay, who has retired.

James was appointed earlier in 2021 and has paid tribute to his predecessor, from whom he says he has inherited “a strong and robust organisation in excellent health.”

He adds: “Going forward, my priorities will be to build on the solid foundation that Scania has in the UK by further developing the range and scope of services that we provide and continuing to enhance the skills and working lives of our team members.”

James Armstrong takes up the leadership of Scania (Great Britain) having most recently spent time in postings abroad with the Swedish OEM. Prior to rejoining the Milton Keynes-based business, he was MD of Scania Central and Eastern Europe, based in Prague. His previous roles were as MD for Scania in South East Asia, based in Kuala Lumpur, and as Service Director for Scania (Great Britain).

Adds James: “From a personal perspective, it is great to be returning to the UK, where my career with the Scania organisation started, and reconnecting with many customers and colleagues.

“Having worked in a number of overseas territories for Scania in recent years, I am very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to drive the shift to more sustainable transport solutions.”
