HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre (HEIC) in Kilmarnock has received a battery-electric Orion E minibus, supplied by Mellor.

It will provide transport for visitors to the pioneering low carbon facility and has been sourced with the help of a Green Economy Fund grant from SP Energy Networks.

The 16-passenger Mellor Orion E delivers a range of 160km. HALO Urban Regeneration Company Founder and Executive Chair Marie Macklin CBE says that it “aligns perfectly with our vision of a sustainable community powered by renewable energy.”

She adds: “Entrepreneurs and other visitors to HEIC can be safe in the knowledge that this mode of transport is helping to support our efforts to harness renewable energy in place of fossil-fuelled power right across the development.”
