National Express has announced it will operate a fleet of electric double-decker electric buses for this year’s Glastonbury Festival for the first time.
To mark Earth Day (22 April), the operator has revealed festival attendees will be taken on the zero-emissions shuttle buses from Bristol to Worthy Farm for the UK’s largest music festival from 20-26 June.
National Express, the official coach travel partner for Glastonbury, is partnering with Zenobe on infrastructure and operations. It will operate special services from more than 60 locations across the country to the site of the festival, taking place on 21-25 June. More than 200,000 attended in 2022.
Dharel Patel, Head of Environment and Sustainability at National Express UK, says: “We’re pleased to be able to run these zero-emission buses for the very first time to Glastonbury, a festival which has always had sustainability at its very core.
“It’s encouraging to see that more and more people are ditching their cars and switching to environmentally-friendly public transport, which is why we continuously invest in upgrading our vehicles to the cleanest, most efficient fleet to help people make important sustainable choices when planning their travel.”
