As part of its Nightcap campaign, school transport safety group BUSK UK has started a crowdfunder to raise £5,000.
The money is to pay for a solicitor’s legal opinion on “whether tour operators have a case to answer when they fail to provide adequate sleeping arrangements for coach drivers”.
To raise awareness, BUSK UK Director Pat Harris has contacted 60 tour operators. She says: “One in particular was shocked and said they took it as given that drivers are looked after, and that on grounds of safety they always provide single rooms and day beds.
“Another was so supportive that they donated £200 towards the legal opinion we are after.”
