The Jimmy Beam Down Light (JBDL) slow-speed lighting system is designed to illuminate a suggested ‘keep clear’ area at the side of stationary or turning vehicles. It was launched at the CV Show.

The system comes as standard with three functions. In the first, it operates automatically through the JBDL control box. When the ignition is turned on, the JBDL system illuminates, and the lights stay on until the vehicle reaches a speed above 15km/h.

Once the vehicle speed returns below 16km/h, the lights turn back on. In low light conditions, the JBDL comprehensively illuminates the floor area to the side of the vehicle.

In the second scenario, it flashes in conjunction with the indicators. This, says the company, is helpful for cyclists and pedestrians in the vicinity of the vehicle.

In the third instance, JBDL operates in conjunction with the sidelights. That operation assists the driver during normal activities when lighting conditions deteriorate and it also highlights the presence of the vehicle to other road users in poor visibility.

JBDL reports strong interest in the product among coach and bus operators following the launch.
