New coach parking facility to open in Blackpool in August

A new coach parking facility will open at Blackpool Airport on Saturday 11 August.

The coach park – which is the result of the CPT’s work with Blackpool Council, Blackpool Airport and Blackpool Transport Services over the past 18 months – is on the site of the old P2 Car Park (FY4 2QS).

Open daily from 0900-2300hrs, a daily charge will be £20 and overnight stays can be booked in advance for £35.

Sue Mullen, CPT’s Manager for the North Western region, says: “Having worked closely with Council and Airport officials over the past couple of years, it is clear that all parties fully understand the vital role that coaches and coach tourism play in reducing congestion and supporting the local economy.”

The coach park is monitored by CCTV and on-site security at all times, and there are toilets and refreshments nearby for drivers.

Adds Ms Mullen: “The safe and secure site is ideally located close to both the M55 and town centre attractions, and with the supporting trial of the Park & Glide service, visiting Blackpool by coach has never been easier.”

The facility opens on the same weekend as the town’s annual Air Show, and Blackpool Transport will be trialling a free ‘Park & Glide’ service, transferring passengers to and from the town centre and attractions.

Over the weekend, coach drivers parking at the new site will be given a free day ticket for use on all Blackpool Transport buses and trams and a refreshments voucher.
